Henry John Smid, a former resident of Klemme, died May 7, 2000 in Everett, WA. A memorial service was held at the First Presbyterian Church of Concord, CA with burial in Concord. Henry was born May 24, 1913 to Udo Smid and Elizabeth Johnson Smid. As an adult he lived in Concord working as custodian at First Presbyterian Church until his retirement. Due to ill health he lived in Arlington, WA near his son for the past ten months. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Otto and Bernhard, and sisters Jeanette Smid, Geradine Reighel, and Caroline Schaefer. Survivors include children Janet Short of San Antonio, TX, Carol Renwald of Yuba City, CA, and David of Arlington, WA; five grandchildren; and four nephews including Harvey and Roger Schaefer of Forest City.
