Roy E. Denger of Glen Ellyn, loving husband of Hazel; fond father of Bernadine Powles; grandfather of two; brother of Stanley, Ralph, and Rosa Ellefson. Visitation Saturday, 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. only, at the Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane street, Glen Ellyn. Funeral service and interment Monday in Dows, Iowa. Employed by Lyons & Carnahan of Chicago. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the Heart fund.

Roy E. Denger, youngest son of George Daniel and Susie K. Denger was born April 4, 1906 at Corsica, South Dakota. After he was one year of age, his parents moved to Dows, Iowa, where he spent his youth and received his early education. After graduation from the Dows High School, he attended ? College and Upper Iowa University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Later he earned a Masters degree in Education and Administration from Iowa State College at Ames.

He was was united in marriage to Hazel Dahlgren in 1926. They made their home in Bradford, Iowa, which was his first superintendency. He later was superintendent of schools at Colwell, Iowa, and Scranton. Iowa. During the World War II years he was a special agent with the Federal Treasury Department serving the Loy.. Board in Washington, D.C. In 1945 he was assigned to the Treasury Department Regional office in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1947 he left the treasury department to return to his chosen field of Education and was affiliated with Lyons and Carnahan Educational Publishers. He progressed and advanced with this company to the position of Chicago Regional Sales Manager.

Mr. Denger was a member of Grace Methodist church in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a member of the Masonic Lodge and also a member of many Professional Organizations. He passed away suddenly at his home in Glen Ellyn Thursday, April 1st, 1965. He is survived by his wife, Hazel, his daughter, Bernadine and two grandchildren, Steven and Cynthia Powles. Also two brothers, Ralph of Dows, Stanley of Clarion, one sister, Mrs. Rosa Ellefson of Alden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Denger and three brothers, Joe, Clarence and Ray Denger.

Visitation was held in the Glen Ellyn Church on Saturday, April 3rd. Rev. Thomas Stewart officiated at the funeral services held in the First Methodist church in Dows Monday, April Sth with graveside rites by the Masonic Lodge. Interment was made at the Fairview Cemetery in Dows, with the Van Hove Funeral home in charge.
