Max Lowish, 88, Chatham, N.J.

Max M. Lowish, 88 died Wednesday May 19, 2010 at the King James Care Center in Chatham, NJ. Services will be provided by the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City, Iowa. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 25th at 10:30 at the Cass Center Cemetery.

Max Martin Lowish, son of Herschel and Mary (Ladd) Lowish, was born on July 16, 1921 in Farmersburg, Indiana. He graduated from Arsenal High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He went on to receive degrees from Fort Hayes Kansas State University and Purdue University. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army Air Corps as a member of the 6th Bomb Group in the Pacific. He continued his military service as an officer in the US Air Force Reserve retiring in 1975. He was employed by Ciba Geigy, Inc. in Greensboro, NC and retired as Director of Trade Relations for Agricultural Chemicals in 1986.

He is survived by his children; daughters, Virginia Burns and husband Robert of Summit, NJ and Anne Richards and husband Michael of Easton, CT.; sons Richard Lowish and wife Susanne of London, England and William Lowish and wife Katherine of Mt. Pleasant, SC.; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty one years, Vesta (Short) Lowish; brother, Richard Lowish; grandson Michael Lowish and daughter-in-law Donna Gilbert Lowish. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, NC.
