Elva J. Underwood, 74, died early this morning at the Hamilton County hospital where she had been a patient the past week. She had been in ill health the past two years. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. William Schoville officiating and with burial in the Cass Center cemetery.
Elva J. Kepler, daughter of James W. and Myrtle B. Courter Kepler, was born Nov. 3, 1900 at Webster City, where she was reared and educated. She was married Dec. 8, 1920 at Webster City to Roy Underwood, and the couple made their home on a farm north of this city. She later moved to California where she resided until December 1973, when she returned to Webster City, making her home at Southfield Care Center.
She is survived by one son Earl Dean Underwood of Hawthorn, Calif., 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, James W. Kepler, Des Moines, Ethel Hudson, Webster City, and Mrs. Charles (Helen) Riley, Des Moines, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Robert and Arthur Underwood, and one brother, Harold Kepler. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City.
