Milford "Punk" Thompson, 83, of Fort Dodge passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. The visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Milford was born in Deer Creek Township on May 12, 1927 to Clyde and Maysel Thompson. He grew up in the Hardy, IA area and then enlisted with the U.S. Army. He served during WW II and was discharged honorably as a Tech 5. He worked as a farmer and had a variety of other jobs including playing with his Country Western Band. He married Katherine Fisher on February 6, 1953 in Jackson, MN. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing the Lottery and most of all his band.

Milford is survived by his children, Michael (Jan) Thompson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jackie (Chuck) Schaffner of Fort Dodge, Greg (Sherri) Thompson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Tommy (Gail) Thompson of Fort Dodge and Bobby (Jeri) Thompson of Fort Dodge; 13 grandchildren and his sister Vivian (George) Markman of Hardy, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine; his parents Clyde and Maysel; and siblings Maxine Larson and John Thompson. Memorials may be left to the family for their further discretion.
