Clarence Trampel was born September 22, 1922, at Kamrar, Iowa, the son of Peter and Jennie (Schaa) Trampel. He moved with his family at a young age to a farm near Klemme, Iowa. Clarence attended and graduated from eighth grade from the Avery Township Schools. He was united in marriage to Ruth Haes, April 24, 1943, at the Immanuel Reformed Church, Klemme. Their union was blessed with five children: JoAnne, Richard, Beverly, Dixie, and Terry. The couple made their home and raised their family on the Trampel family farm which has continued to be in the family for more than one century. Clarence was a lifelong farmer and raised horses. His love of horses spanned his entire life. He had raised many different breeds over the years, as well as, numerous teams of mules. Many of Clarence's favorite past times included special times spent with his family and friends. On special occasions he would hitch up the teams and go on trail rides. The Trampel family has and continues to participate in many horse, rodeo, and riding events throughout the surrounding region.

The last several years, Clarence was the Number One spectator at any of the events or practices at Trampel Arena south of Klemme. Despite the fact that he wasn't always feeling at his best, he looked forward to going for a ride nearly every day. Clarence rarely missed an opportunity to go to a horse sale. Mr. Trampel also enjoyed touring around the countryside in his surrey, a family heirloom that had belonged to his parents. Although Clarence and Ruth had not done a lot of extensive travel, the family cherishes the memories from a bus trip they took to Texas over the Christmas season in 2003. Clarence's son, Rich, had purchased a school bus which he renovated and the family traveled together on this memorable and eventful excursion. The trip left them all with special reflections of precious time together touring the sights, sharing laughs, stories, and priceless memories. Clarence enjoyed times spent with his family and friends. He also enjoyed the company and companionship of his dogs. He was a longtime member of the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme.
