1909-1980Illness fatal to Milford Jones
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for a retired local farmer, Milford Jones, 70, who died of a malignancy February 27, [1980] at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. The Reverend John Bates of Eden Presbyterian Church and the Reverend Joseph Nesheim, church pastor, were in charge of the rites at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Arrangements were by C. R. Champion and Sons and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.
Milford Lee Jones was born in Alexander, Iowa, on September 27, 1909, the son of Charles and Ann Frie Jones. He completed his education in the Hampton schools. Lucille Urban and Milford Jones were united in marriage December 5, 1929, in Clarksville. They established their home on a farm in Franklin County, later moving to a farm near Rudd in 1941, and retiring to Osage in 1979. Mr. Jones served as a director on the board of the Rural Electric Co-operative for 22 years and also served through the years on a variety of other boards.
Surviving are his wife Lucille; one son, Wayne Jones of rural Floyd, two daughters, Mrs. Gerald Meitner (Charlotte) of St. Ansgar and Mrs. William Moss (Beverly) of Floyd; six grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Jones of Hampton; one sister, Mrs. Ardis Fredericks of Hansell; nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother Clifford; one sister Letha; and one grandson, Kevin Jones.
