Marilee Young, 79, died at her home Wednesday, October 7, 2009. The family will receive friends from 9-11 am, Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Iles Funeral Home- Westover Chapel in Des Moines. A 2:00 pm Graveside service will follow at Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Marilee was born in Alexander, Iowa on September 6, 1930 to Leroy and Marie Azeltine. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College and went on to teach in several Iowa communities including Bristow, Jefferson, Clinton, Iowa Falls, Cedar Falls and Des Moines. Marilee was an avid reader and enjoyed antiques and animals. Survivors include her son, Rob Young of New York, NY; her sister, Barbara Ann Ward of Hampton, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Marilee was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Robert Young in 1996. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Animal Rescue League or Habitat for Humanity.
