20 August 1820 --- 25 April 1899

Mrs. Lydia Thompson, aged 79 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. Phipps, Tuesday evening, April 25th, 1899, at about 8 o'clock. Cause of death, heart disease. Mrs. Thompson was born at Bennington, New York State, August 30th, 1820. She was married to Warren Thompson at Sparta, Pa., October 29th, 1844. To them six children were born. Mrs. A. C. Jennings, Mr. Luman Thompson and Mr. Herbert Thompson, all living near Rio, Wis., and Mrs. E. Phipps, with whom the departed has been living for the past six years, are the children now living. The diseased joined the Free-Will Baptist church when a girl, and afterward not being where there was a church of that denomination, she united with the Methodists. She had suffered with heart trouble for years, but in the last few weeks had failed rapidly, needing almost constant care. She suffered so much in the last two or three weeks that death certainly must have been welcome. She died easily and quietly simply folding her hands and going to sleep.
