January 4, 1949William Dinsdale Dies at Home
William Dinsdale, 80, died at his home, 527 Webster Street, yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. His death was very sudden, although Mr. Dinsdale had suffered a heart attack about a week ago. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the McCauley-Chapman funeral home with Rev. J.A. Farnham officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
William Dinsdale, son of Edmund and Hannah Dinsdale, was born Dec. 6, 1868 at Richmond, Yorkshire, England. He came to the United States when he was 14 years old and began life in this country on a farm northeast of Webster City, now part of Kendall Young park. Later the family moved to a farm which they owned west of Webster City. In 1894, he was united in marriage to Angie Bishop of this city, and the family lived at Eagle Grove, Des Moines and Chicago where Mr. Dinsdale worked for the American Express company. For the past 40 years they had lived in or near Webster City.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. P.L. Benshoof of Chicago; Mrs. R. M. Ladwig of Denver and Mrs. George Wareham of Iowa Falls; one son, Maynard E. Dinsdale of this city; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, John Bell, of this city, and four sisters, Mrs. W.E. Berogan and Margaret and Ada Bell, all of Webster City; and Mrs. James Torp of Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Mr. Dinsdale was a member of the Masonic lodge and in 1934 received his certificate of 50 year membership.
