MASON CITY, IA - LaDonna M. Eckhardt, 61, of Mason City, died Friday (March 24, 2000) at her home at 651 Sixth St. S.E. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 E. State St., Mason City with the Rev. Paul Finger officiating. Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel is in charge of services. Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Sunday School, 3rd-6th grade or Hospice of North Iowa.

LaDonna was born on May 8, 1938 in Austin, Minn., the daughter of Charles Kirchner and Maude Haag Kirchner Pruisman. She grew up in Manly and graduated from Manly High School in 1956. She attended LaJames Beauty College in Mason City, graduating in 1957. LaDonna worked in the beauty salon at the Americana Nursing Home for three years. She also worked for Amicare for 13 years. LaDonna was united in marriage to Ron Eckhardt on July 13, 1962, at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school since she was in high school. She also taught confirmation classes, was president of the women's group and the president of the church council. LaDonna was also an active member of the TOPS Club for 32 years.

LaDonna is survived by her husband, Ron Eckhardt of Mason City; her mother, Maude Haag Kirchner Pruisman, of Kanawha; two sons, Marty Eckhardt and his wife, Jodi, of Mason City, and Larry Eckhardt and his wife, Mindy, of Greene; one daughter, Cally Eckhardt, of Mason City; five grandchildren, Debi, David, Jessica, Nathaniel, and Nicholas; one brother, Glen Kirchner and his wife, Dolly, of Decorah; one stepsister, Marlene Walters, of Indiana; one special friend of the family, Mike Gribben, of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews. LaDonna was preceded in death by her fathers, Charles Kirchner and Klaas Pruisman, two sisters, Rhonda Kirchner and Betty Hacker, one stepbrother, Jerry Pruisman, several aunts and uncles and her grandparents.
