Mason City Globe Gazette, IowaMASON CITY - Richard A. Nuehring, 63, of 415 E. State St., died Friday (Nov. 19, 1999) at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Richard A. Nuehring Memorial Fund. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to service time at the church.
Richard was born March 24, 1936, in Belmond, the son of Rudolph and LaReta (Nolte) Nuehring. Richard's family moved to rural Mason City in 1945, where he attended country school in Clear Lake. He was confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church. He married Dorothy Dahle on Nov. 14, 1958, at St. James Lutheran Church. He worked for Farmers Co-operative Gas and Oil Company for 19 years, retiring in 1996. He was also very involved in real estate rental property for some 30 years. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Roger Nuehring and his wife, Sue and Steve Nuehring and his wife, Julie, all of Mason City; one daughter, Nancy Nuehring of Mason City; six grandchildren, Stefanie, Abbie, Kayla, Whitney, Cortney and Richard Andrew; three brothers, Ronald of Grand Meadows, Minn., Darold Nuehring and his wife, Joyce of Manly, Lowell Nuehring and his wife, Linda of Clear Lake; half-sister, Phyllis Huffaker and her husband, Darwin of Mingo; half-brother, Arthur Ressler of Eagle Grove; mother-in-law, Marie Dahle of Mason City; two sisters-in-law, Donnis Hansen and husband, Bill, Jacksonville, Fla., and Susanne Morris and husband, Larry, Mason City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Lloyd Dahle. Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory.
