HUMBOLDT, Iowa - A Funeral Service for Elmer J. Schnetzer, formerly of Renwick will be held 10:30 AM Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Renwick with Reverend Lynn J. Noel officiating. Burial will be in the LuVerne Cemetery, LuVerne. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 6 PM Sunday at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Renwick and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Elmer Joseph Schnetzer was born March 20, 1918 in Osceola, Missouri, son of George Gailord and Margaret Alice (Roberts) Schnetzer. He grew up in Osceola and graduated high school in Lowry City, Missouri. Elmer moved to the Renwick area in 1941. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann (Bobbie) Blumer on November 10, 1942. Elmer drove truck and worked as a farm hired hand in his earlier years. He then was the Branch Manager at W-H Coop for 28 years retiring in 1978. Bobbie preceded him in death on December 30, 1976. On August 9, 1980, Elmer was united in marriage to Gladys Irene Kraft. They made their home in Renwick until August, 2008 when they moved to Springvale Senior Living in Humboldt. Elmer enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, gardening, and playing cards, especially cribbage. He was a member of the Renwick St. Paul Lutheran Church. Elmer was on the Renwick Town Council, served as Mayor, and was one of Renwick's first EMT volunteers.

Elmer J. Schnetzer died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Humboldt Care Center North, at the age of 92. He had been a resident there since April. He is survived by his wife Gladys of Humboldt; two children, James Schnetzer and his wife Laraine of Garden City, Utah, and Colleen Teigland and her husband Herbert of Fort Dodge; three grandchildren; Scott Schnetzer of Garden City, Utah, Randy Schnetzer and his wife Andrea of Farr West, Utah, and Douglas Schnetzer and his wife Ashley of Ogden, Utah; and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by four step-children, Larry Kraft and his wife Linda of Brevard, North Carolina, Sharon Musgrove and her husband Jerry of Columbus City, Iowa, Jerilyn Clowes of Renwick, and Jan Thompson and her husband Rick of Renwick; a sister, Margaret Clark and her husband Dick of Pueblo, Colorado; 9 step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bobbie; a granddaughter, Kellee Jo Brunson; a daughter-in-law, Judy Schnetzer; a sister, Dorothy Blocker; four brothers, George, Dale, Tom, and Earl Schnetzer.
