Verna was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dows and the Ladies Aide.

Verna is survived by four children, Jean Schulz and husband, Roger of Eagle Grove, Connie Hubner of Alden, Larry Hanson and wife, Charlene of Alden and Denny Hanson and wife, Judy of Alden; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hubert Tussey of Story City and Harold Sorenson of Ames; and one sister, Gladys Witthuhn of Story City.
