IOWA FALLS, IA - Robert E. Allen, 96, of Iowa Falls, died on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, October 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with burial in the Northlawn Memory Gardens, Iowa Falls. The Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls.

Robert was born on November 24, 1909, in rural Conrad, the son of D. Frank and Jenny (Folkerts) Allen. He attended rural schools and the Popejoy School. He was united in marriage to Doris Quible on October 2, 1938, at Chadron, Nebraska and after her death he married Edna Hackbarth on February 20, 1982 in Iowa Falls. Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, Odd Fellows, ASCS Office and had been a school board director.

He is survived by his wife, Edna of Iowa Falls; a son, Darrell Allen and his wife, Rita of Iowa Falls; a daughter, Barbara Fritz and her husband, Francis of Iowa Falls; a sister, Thelma Frost of Johnston; a daughter-in-law, Linda Ingebritson and her husband, Mike of Iowa Falls; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Vic; his first wife, Doris; three brothers, Don, Harold and Willard Allen; one sister, Dorothy Felland; and two half-sisters, Lela Nott and Marietta Saline.
