IOWA FALLS, IA —Ruth Johnson, 84, of Iowa Falls, died on Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at the Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, August 4, at the Popejoy United Methodist Church, with burial in the Alden Cemetery. The Surls Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth V. Johnson, was born on July 25, 1923, the daughter of Chris H. and Matilda Timm Thompson in Franklin County. She attended school in Alexander, graduating with the class of 1940. On February 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Johnson at Kasson, Minnesota. They made their home in Popejoy where Ruth was postmaster, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Popejoy United Methodist Church, Clarion Chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Oak Hill Cemetery Association and the Town and Country Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a son, Gary Johnson and wife, Vonda of Alden; daughter, Julie Hook of Guttenberg; son, John Johnson and wife, Shelley of Burnsville, North Carolina; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Larson of Rochester, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth in 1976; three brothers; and four sisters.
