BATEMAN, JOHN EDWARD, 78, died Thursday at his home in Naches, Washington where he was a retired carpenter. Survivors include widow, Mary E.; sons, James, Tieton, Elston, Chelan and Merle Sutton of Wenatchee; daughters, Mrs. Ruth Jones, Naches and Mrs. Viola Cox, Chelan; 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Shaw and Sons is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services for John Edward Bateman will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Shaw and Sons Chapel. The Rev. H. E. Tudor will officiate. Interment, Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Pallbearers, Ted McDowell, Don Busey, Jerry Busey, William Davis, Raymond Carroll and Ronald Carroll.
