Herbert "Herb" Janssen, 85, of Fort Dodge passed away on Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with burial following at Colfax Township Cemetery, rural Vincent, IA. The visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Herb was born in Loda Township, IL on July 31, 1924 to Lehnert and Verna Janssen. He married Elaine Kinne on December 29, 1963. He was a carpenter in the Thor area for many years, retiring in 1988. Herbert is survived by his wife Elaine; children Sue Janssen of Fort Dodge and Steve (Deb) Janssen of Clarion, IA; grandchildren Jennifer (T.J.) Stumpf and Andy Janssen all of Clarion, IA; his brother Gerald (Jan) Janssen of Buckey, IL; and his sister Glenda (Bob) Weisenbarn of Buckley, IL. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Janssen; his parents Lehnert and Verna; and his brothers Clint, Erv and Arno Janssen. Memorials may be left to the family for their further discretion.
