HAMPTON, IA - Raymond Francis Gram, 81, of Hampton, died Monday (May 24, 2010) at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. A private memorial service will be held for the family on May 28, 2010.

Raymond was born on Sept. 29, 1928, on a farm near Clarion, the son of Bertel and Edna (Francis) Gram. Raymond was united in marriage to Gertrude Marjorie Perkins on Sept. 15, 1945 at Hampton and to this union were born sons Ronald, Roger, Jerry and Larry. Gertrude and Raymond were married for 31 years, until her passing in 1976. Raymond and Nadine Mae Freese were married Dec. 18, 1976, at Nashua and were married for 33 years. Raymond was educated in Rowan and retired in 1985 after working for 31 years at Maytag in Hampton. He loved Iowa and called it "God's Country." Raymond enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping and traveling with his family. He had an easy-going manner, enjoyed visiting with people, and will be truly missed by many.

Those preceding Raymond in death are his parents, wife Gertrude; sons, Ronald, Roger, and Jerry and sister, Marion Aldrich. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Gram, of Hampton; son, Larry (Evonne) Gram of Forest City; grandsons, Phillip (Kendra) Gram of Forest Grove, Ore. and Matthew (Erin) Gram of Cornelius, N.C.; daughter in-law, Cherri Gram of Newton; granddaughter, Michelle (Jeff) Brunsen, of Urbandale, grandson, Troy Gram, of Des Moines; three step-children, Sandy (Chuck) Olk, of Latimer, Cathy (Tom) Hensel, of Brainerd, Minn., Rick Freese, of Waverly; seven stepgrandchildren, Benjamin (Vickie) Hensel, of Cedar Rapids, Jill Hensel of Brainerd, Minn., Scott (Becky) Olk, of Estherville, Holly (Steve) Martin, of Clarion, Erin (John) Reeves, of Rifle, Colo., Nicole (Mike) Taylor, of Marshalltown, and Andrew Freese, of Eldora; brother, Robert Gram, of Belmond; sister, Shirley (John) Lager, of Clarion. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton is in charge of arrangements.
