It has pleased our Almighty Father to call Mrs. Edward Kiplinger from our midst unto Himself in Heaven. Maria Anna Heginger was born December 21 in the year of 1865 in Weska, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heginger. She was soon brought to the Lord in Holy Baptism. At the age of eight years the deceased came to America to live at Cedar Falls, in Black Hawk county, While living there she was daily instructed and confirmed on March 21st, 1881 by Pastor C. Mehrtens; thereby with her own confession giving the promise to renounce the devil, the world; and the flesh and to accept Jesus Christ with steadfast faith as her one and only Saviour.

On Feb. 15, 1884 Maria Anna Heginger was united in marriage with Edward Kiplinger of Belmond. The couple made their home in and about Belmond, for approximately the last fifty years. To this union were born nine children. Two sons Carl and John and their father preceded Mrs. Kiplinger in death. She leaves to mourn, her two sons Adolph of Belmond, and Joe of Huston, Mo.; five daughters: Mrs. Sophia Halfpop of Goodell. Mrs. Julia Lowenberg of Belmond. Mrs. Clara McCullen of Waterloo, Mrs. Mamie Wolfe of Mason City and Mrs. Esther Hartwig of Thornton. Also 23 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren survive. Yet surviving are two brothers John Heginger of Klemme and Charley Heginger of Whittman, Wisc. Mrs. Kiplinger was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid while the state of her health permitted her to be about and active. She departed this life at her home on the evening of Feb. 1, 1938 at 7 o'clock. She reached the age of 72 years, 1 month and ten days.
