Belmond Resident Succumbs Sunday
Services Were Held Wednesday For Ed Kiplinger, 82 Years Old

Funeral services were held yesterday morning at the St. Francis Church at ten o'clock for one of Belmond's oldest residents, Ed Kiplinger. At the time of his death,. Mr. Kiplinger was eighty-two years old. For some time he has not been well and last week he became worse. He died at his home in north Belmond on Sunday, December 26th 1937; Mr. Kiplinger was born in Germany in 1855 and lived there until 1876 when he came to this country at the age of twenty-one. He resided on a farm north of Belmond until 1909 when he purchased a house in town where he has lived since that time. He is survived by his wife, Mary and several children: Joe of Houston, Mo.; Esther Hartwig of Thornton, Clara McCullen of Waterloo, Mamie Wolfe of Mason City; Sophie Halfpop of Goodell, Julia Lowenberg and Adolph of Belmond, besides twenty-three grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. One son, John, preceded him in death. Interment was made in the Belmond cemetery. Rev. Father Mauer officiated at the services.
