Florence Ann Froiland, daughter of Mike and Pearl (Eckhoff) Beukema, was born May 18, 1926 in Wright County, Iowa. She received her education in country schools. In 1945 Florence was united in marriage to Emil Froiland in Fairmont, Minnesota. To this union a son and daughter were born. Florence was employed as a nurse’s aide at Lakeside Lutheran Home and the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. She also worked at Berkley’s for several years. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in the ladies groups. Florence was a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Support Group as well as at Lakeside Lutheran Home. Florence died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil on December 29, 2000; a daughter, Betty Froiland; two sisters, Sally Tomafson and Betty Kuiper; and five brothers, Clarence, George, Don, John and Frank Beukema. She is survived by her son, Joe Froiland and his wife, Colleen of Spencer, IA; three grandchildren, Eric Froiland and his wife, Nickie of Rochester, MN, Jolene Froiland of Spencer, IA and Jeff Froiland of Spencer, IA; two sisters, Edyth Beukema of Bellflower, CA and Theresa Ezarski of Emmetsburg, IA; as well as many other relatives and friends.
