Belmond Resident Floyd Wirtz, Dies

BELMOND — Funeral for Floyd Wirtz were held on Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church. Rev. M. L. Jones officiatcd and Fulton Funeral Home was in charge. Burial was in Belmond cemetery. Pall bearers were Gary Harty, Edward Harty, Cleatis Hardy. Maynard Harty, Raymond Bailey and Harold Svendsen. Mr. Wirtz was born at West Bend. Nov 27. 1912 and spent his childhood at Titonka, moving to Belmond in 1939 where he has been in business since that time. He was married in 1990 to Marie Jones. A few weeks ago he entered Belmond hospital for medical treatment and afterwards went to Iowa City University Hospital where he died early Monday morning. August 2 from the effects of a ruptured blood vessel in his brain. Surviving in addition to his widow, are two sisters, Goldie Bennett of Paoli, Indiana and Irene Snodgrass of Oakland, Calif., and two stepsons, Tomas Cardes and Dale Jones, both of Belmond. His parents preceded him in death, also a sister, Grace Young.
