George L. Dickinson, 74, of 419 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 1, 1972, at Copley Memorial Hospital, Aurora. He was born September 7, 1897, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, and at an early age moved to Hawarden with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Levi D. Dickinson. The family resided at 901 Ninth Street in Hawarden from 1904 until the death of L. D. Dickinson in 1948. Mr. Dickinson is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Earl (Cleora) Koobs of Wakefield, Rhode Island, Mrs. Ruth Brennan of Venice, Florida, Mrs. Hazel Nelson and Mrs. Leland (Bertice) Schiefen of Port Orchard, Washington; a brother, Levi A. Dickinson of Venice, Florida; and three nieces and a nephew.

Mr. Dickinson was a member of Hawarden Aerie No. 1865, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and of the Lost Man's Club of Hawarden. In Aurora he was a member for 47 years of the Roosevelt Aurora Post 84 of the American Legion; a member of Amvets Post 103; a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Waidley Post 468; a life member of the Disabled American Veterans; a member of the 40 and 8 Voiture Locale 592; a life member of the Phoenix Club; and a member of the Tiger Athletic Association. Mr. Dickinson served his country in the U.S. Army in three wars, on the Mexican Border and during World Wars I and II. At the time of his discharge from World War II he was a Sergeant in Co. C., 691st QM Battallion. Funeral services were conducted by the American Legion at the Healy Chapel, Aurora, at 10 A.M. on Saturday, March 4, 1972. Burial will full military honors was in Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora.
