November 11, 2007ROCKWELL, IA — Kurna J. “Kay” Neve, 90, of Rockwell, died Thursday afternoon (Nov. 8, 2007) at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at the Rockwell United Methodist Church, 303 E. Monroe St., with the Rev. Ken Livingston officiating. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3 until 5 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home in Rockwell, 120 S. Third St. The visitation will continue Monday one hour prior to service at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Rockwell Community Nursing Home, 707 Elm St. E., Rockwell, or Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St. S.E., Mason City.
Kurna Johanna Neve was born in Alexander, on Nov. 27, 1916, the daughter of Klaas and Lebena (Van Horn) Steenhard. She attended school at the rural Alexander school. On Jan. 12, 1934, Kay was united in marriage to Bernard F. Neve in Mason City. Kay had lived most of her life in the Rockwell area. She had been employed at both Damon’s and the Rockwell Hardware as a clerk throughout her life. Kay was a member of the First Baptist Church, Women’s Missionary Society, Kennsington Club and the Senior Citizens, all of Rockwell. Kay was an avid card player, enjoyed bingo, writing poems, short stories and quilting. Perhaps her greatest accomplishment in life and that which she took the most pride in, was her family and the love she had for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in her life are her four children, Aivetta Haxton of Mason City, Deets (Wanda) Neve of Clear Lake, Calvin (Karol) Neve of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Rolland (Cheryl) Neve of Port St. Lucy, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Jennie Larue of Clear Lake, Wilma (Ray) Schultz of Plainview, Minn., and LaVonne Brager of Clear Lake. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard; two sons, Kenneth and Maynard; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Dena, Elizabeth and Anna; one brother, Fred; and son-in-law, Jerry Haxton.
