KLEMME, IA - Marvin Frederick Barz, 90, died Saturday (May 8, 1999) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme, with the Rev. Georgia White-Kisslring officiating. Interment will be in Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tenold Funeral Home, Klemme, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.

Marvin Frederick Barz, the son of Frederick and Martha (Hartbeck) Barz, was born on Dec. 3, 1908, on a farm northeast of Klemme in Ell Township. He attended rural country school and Klemme High School. On Oct. 11, 1952, Marvin was married to Gladys Kothenbeutel of rural Kanawha at the home of the bride's parents by the Rev. Calvin Grossheusch. The couple farmed for many years northeast of Klemme. Upon retiring, Marvin took up woodworking as a hobby, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He remained active until his health would not permit him. Marvin was a member of the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gladys, of Klemme; a daughter, Darlene Trenary of Kanawha; two grandchildren, Connie Marciniak and her husband, Jim, of Garner, and Marvin Trenary and his wife, Nancy of Kanawha; seven great-grandchildren, Dustin, Laura, James, Mike, Amy, Shannon and Cory; two great-great-grandchildren, Bailey and Brianna; and two sisters, Ella Rosendahl of Klemme and Doris Greimann of Garner. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Richard "Jim" Trenary; and two brothers, Harvey and Ronald Barz. Tenold Funeral Home, Klemme.
