February 21, 2001LATIMER, Iowa - Bertha Muhlenbruch, 94, of Latimer, died Sunday (Feb. 18, 2001) at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation was held on Tuesday at the Immanuel United Church of Christ.
Bertha Elizabeth Muhlenbruch, 94 years of age, was born on Jan. 30, 1907, to Henry and Elizabeth (Sheets) Friesleben at Kanawha. She attended school at Alexander. She married Lester Muhlenbruch on Aug. 5, 1931, at Alexander. They farmed until 1967 and moved into Latimer. She worked at various places in Hampton. Bertha enjoyed knitting, bowling, golf, fishing and traveling. Bertha was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer and was a part of the church guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in June 1990; a grandson on June 25, 1992; four brothers, Art, August, Dell and one in infancy, Christian; and two sisters, Anna Wellner and Lena. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Maxine Johansen and her husband, Wendell "Lump," of Hampton, and Fran Stackhouse and her husband, Jack, of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Mark and Luann Johansen, Jane and Al Eilderts, Anne and Bryce Claypool, and Scott and Paula Stackhouse; nine great-grandchildren, Nate, Nicholas, Leah, Hannah, Spencer, Gabriel, Elle, Parker and Brady. Willim Funeral Home in Latimer is in charge of arrangements.
