MASON CITY, IA — Georgetta V. Farrer, 88, of Mason City died Tuesday (Sept. 13, 2005) at Good Shepherd Health Center. A prayer service will be held 11 a.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Nick Knoth, chaplain of Good Shepherd Health Center, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour before the service today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa.

Georgetta was born on Oct. 7, 1917, in Kanawha, the daughter of Clyde and Margaret Davison. She was the youngest of nine children. She attended school in Sheffield and graduated from Mason City High School. She was united in marriage to Lloyd J. Farrer on Aug. 3, 1941. She and her husband were owners of J & L Tire Co. for many years. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Jane Davison of Boone; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd, in 1991; brothers, Bill Davison and wife, Flora, Joe Davison and wife, Lavone, and Bob Davison; sisters, Vera Roderick and husband, Lester, Marguerite Wirth and husband, Burl, Gladys Dransfeldt and husband, Robert, Charlotte Freudenberg and husband, Carl, and Roberta Gilchriest and husband, Earl.
