WATERLOO, Iowa -- Genevieve "Jean" Fischer, 77, of Dows and formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at Dows Care Center of natural causes. She was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Oelwein, daughter of Ralph and Emma Decker. She married Norman Eugene Fluke and they were later divorced. She married Raymond R. Fischer on Dec. 8, 1949, in Waverly. He died Feb. 16, 1983. She was employed as a licensed practice nurse at Allen Memorial Hospital for many years. She also worked for many years at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center and also served as a senior companion. Survived by: two sons, Allan Fluke of Oklahoma City and Mark Fischer of Waterloo; a daughter, Colleen Waters of Dows; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Schuller of Oelwein. Preceded in death by: a brother, Ernie Decker. Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service/South Street, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to services on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: may be directed to the family.
