Mrs. John (Tena) Ruiter, Lyle, Minnesota was born June 18, 1897 at Woden, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Inka Koenen. She was baptized by Rev. Bodie, Woden, Iowa, and attended school in Meservey, Iowa area. She was married to John Ruiter, June 16, 1920, Meservey, Iowa, by Rev. P. Pankuk. They made their first home in Latimer, Iowa, and afte a short time moved to Meservey and resided there for 11 years. They moved to Hampton, Iowa, for two years and then to Lohrville, Iowa for five years. Her husband was a depot agent for Chicago, Milwaukee Railroad. The Ruiters have spent the last 30 years in Lyle, Minnesota. She died on September 11, 1966 at Memorial Hospital, Osage, lowa, of a heart attack.
Survivors are her husband, John; one daughter, Mrs. R. (Evelyn) Libersky, Lyle: one grandson, Larry Libersky, Lyle; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Oltman, Sheffield, Iowa; Mrs. Klaas Steenhard, Thornton, Iowa; Mrs. Henry Heitland, Thornton, Iowa; one brother, Jake Koenen, Sheffield, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Sept. 13, at 1:30 pm. at Bethel Alliance Church, Lyle, Rev. Williams officiating. Interment was in Zion Reformed Cemetery, Sheffield, Iowa, with Worlein Funeral home in charge of.arrangements. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, three sisters and one brother.
