Jeralynn Rae Haspany, 68, of Clear Lake, Iowa passed away on May 1, 2010 at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake, Iowa after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday May 5, 2010 at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel Clear Lake, Iowa with Rev. Will Hunsacker and Rev. Rodney Meester officiating. Burial will be immediately following at Meservey Cemetery, Meservey, Iowa. The family suggests any memorials be sent to the Susan G Komen Foundation.
Jeralynn Rae Haspany, daughter of Albert and Ollie Pals was born Dec. 3, 1941. Jeralynn attended the Meservey school system and graduated in 1960. She married David Haspany on Sept. 20, 1963. They briefly attended Chicago Bible School in 1961. Throughout her life, she lived in a variety of places including Forest City, Clear Lake, New Hampton, North Washington, Charles City, and Bella Vista Arkansas, Jeralynn moved back to Meservey Iowa in 1978. Jeralynn enjoyed socializing with friends, especially her great friend Nelda Halvorson.
Jeralynn married Elmer Messelheiser in Dec 11, 1991. Jerri lived in Clear Lake up until her death. Jeralynn will be missed by her family. Daughters, Pam (Doug) Kellogg, Beth (Brian) Cooley of Salem Oregon, Ginger (Thad) Sullivan of Portland Oregon. She is also survived by Brothers, Nate Pals and wife Marlys, Leonard Pals and wife Wanda and four grand children. Jerri is also survived by 3 step children, Robert (Julie) Messelheiser Polk City, Iowa, Dean (Becky) Messelheiser of Florida and Janet Messelheiser of Australia. She was preceded in death by her sister Norma Reisinger, her parents and her husband Elmer Messelheiser. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, Iowa.
