Jennie S. Zevenbergen, 101, died January 29, 2006 at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 2 at 1 p.m., at Walton-Roste Funeral Home in Ashton. Reverend Jim Brown of the Ashton Bible Church officiated with Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, in charge. Jennie (Monster) Zevenbergen was born November 11, 1904 to Arie and Dean (Verhoek) Monster in Rotterdam, Netherlands. In 1910 she, younger brother and mother came to the United States where they joined her father who arrived one year earlier. She lived in various Iowa and Minnesota communities. On February 24, 1924 she married Ike Zevenbergen. They lived on farms in Ashton and Worthington, Minn. She is survived by her son, Leon and wife, Kay of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter Marie Hickman, Belmond; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
