Ethel Marie (Thurmond) Kunkle, the daughter of Albert H. and Eva (Jaynes) Thurmond, was born July 13, 1913, in Liberty Township, Hamilton County, Iowa, near Blairsburg. Ethel passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Tompkins Health Center in Fort Dodge at the age of 96 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Nellie, Leatha and Ada and five brothers: Raymond, Lloyd, Clifford, Harry and Everett “Chuck”. Survivors include her son, Phil Thompson and wife Elizabeth of Fort Dodge; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren and a sister, Verdelle Correll of California. Service will be 11 a.m. May 8 at United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
