WOOLSTOCK, IA - Hazel N. Brock, 85, of Woolstock, died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Bill Van Nostrand officiating. Burial will be in the French Cemetery, east of Woolstock. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday and prior to the service on Monday.

Hazel Nellie Schutt, daughter of Christian and Emma Loux Schutt was born on October 26, 1924 on a farm northeast of Woolstock. She received her education and graduated from Woolstock High School where she was valedictorian of her class. Hazel attended Monmouth University in Monmouth, Illinois where she majored in education. On August 18, 1946 she married Roger Roscoe Brock at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Woolstock. Hazel accepted a position as bookkeeper at the Woolstock Farmers Cooperative. She held that position for 38 years until her retirement in 2000. She also served as the city clerk of Woolstock for over 53 years. Mr. Brock died on March 14, 1994.

Survivors include her sons, Larry (Alice) Brock of Oskaloosa, Keith (Patsy) Brock of Webster City; daughter, Connie (Mark Anderson) Brock of Woolstock; 6 grandchildren; 3 great granddaughters; brothers, Ilo (Marilyn) Schutt of Woolstock, Deslyn Schutt of Clarion, Eldred (Beverly) Schutt also of Clarion; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Roger, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother in infancy, George W. Schutt; brothers, Herbert, Charles, Martin and Celestian (Buster) Schutt; and her sister, Emma Potter.

Hazel was a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church, friends of Ban De La Roche, B.P.W; St. Peters Lutheran Church ladies aide all of Woolstock. Her memberships also included the Wright County Republican Women, Woolstock American Legion Auxiliary, and was secretary for the Woolstock School Board.
