James C. Russell, Jr., formerly of Clarion and Eagle Grove, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Palmer, Alaska. Funeral services were held last week in Palmer, Alaska. A memorial gathering in memory of Jim will be held Thursday evening, April 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church.

Jim was born on May 3, 1946 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He was the son of Rev. J. Curtiss and Betty Samuels Russell. He lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Alaska. He graduated from Clarion High School in 1964. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard. He worked in a number of sales positions throughout his adult life.

Jim is survived by his wife, Val; daughter Ann (Chad) Wilde of Eagle Grove; son Bryan (Lisa) Russell, of Eagle Grove; daughter Sara (Jeremy) Abbas, of Kanawha; son Adam (Johanna) Russell of Forest City; stepson Aaron of Palmer, Alaska; eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
