CLARION - Mary Alice Brandt, 97, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove. Funeral services for Mary Brandt will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 420 First Street North West in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Granger officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Mary Alice (Gleason) Brandt was born on January 27, 1913 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Mary and Morris (Kester) Gleason. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School. Mary was united in marriage to Albert Brandt on June 24, 1933 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Mary and Albert farmed in Iowa until retirement to Clarion in 1974. They were members of First Lutheran Church in Clarion. Mary was very active in the church, Navy mothers and local volunteer organizations. She particularly enjoyed making quilts by hand for family and friends.

Mary is survived by her children: James (Carol) of Duncombe, Morris (Judy) of Clarion, Barbara (Roger) Stenberg of Leland, Ron (Jan) of Cedar Rapids, Gaylord (Nancy) of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey and Gesche Holland of Buffalo, Minnesota; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert in 1999; son Philip; grandson Victor; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.
