Alice E. Hansen, age 87, of Bronson, Kan., died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. She was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph E. Morris and Mary Showers Morris. She married Herbert Hansen on Dec. 19, 1942, in Princeton, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1989. Alice graduated from Clarion High School in 1939, and Broadlawns School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1942. She worked as an RN at Myrtue Memorial Hospital, Harlan, Iowa, and Salem Lutheran Nursing Home in Elk Horn, Iowa. She lived in Elk Horn, Iowa, until moving to Bronson, Kan., in 1984, to be near her children. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Liberty Chapter, Marne, Iowa. She enjoyed playing cards in a card club, playing bingo, quilting, knitting, hardanger, and oil painting. She loved to care for her cats.

Alice is survived by two sons, Ralph E. Hansen and wife Grete, St. Mary's Georgia, and Robert M. Hansen, Bronson, Kan.; two daughters, Martha Ann Farley and husband Jim, and Kristine Jane Pulliam, all of Bronson, Kan.. She is also survived by five grandchildren, John W. Farley and wife Cheryl, Roberta Ann Sobba and husband Rob, Zachary Lee Hansen, Emily Kaia Pulliam and Amber Rose Pulliam; step-grandchildren, Bruce, Kenny and Chris Horne, and the Farley kids who considered her grandma; great grandchildren, Courtney, Caleb and Cloe; step-great-grandchildren, Hailey, Katie, Ben, Ethan and Carrie. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a step-sister, Doris Foster, and a son-in-law, Earl Pulliam.

Following cremation, Lloyd Houk will conduct memorial services at 2 p.m., Friday, April 16, in the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. Private burial will take place in the U.S. National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Bronson United Methodist Church, Shrine Transportation Fund, or the Allen County Animal Rescue and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel, P.O. Box 93, Bronson, Kan.
