May 12, 1944DETLEF W RAMM OF RENWICK CALLED BY DEATH SUNDAY
Detlef William Ramm, 94, pioneer resident of the Renwick vicinity, passed way at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Claus Block of. Renwick, Sunday, May 7. His death was attributed to old age. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, at the Lutheran church in Renwick with Rev. R. J. Huck of there, officiating. He was laid to rest beside his wife, in the Luverne cemetery.
The deceased is survived by two daughters from his first marriage, Mrs. Claus Block of Renwick and Mrs. Dorothea Lindoerfer, of Rock Island, Illinois. He was proceeded in death by his first wife and their two infant children. His second wife, preceded him in death in 1935.
He was born in Eckenfurde, Germany, on December 23, 1849. He immigrated to the United States at the age of twenty-one, and settled at Durand, Iowa, where he worked in a meat packing plant for eleven years. He started a meat market at Luverne, in 1884. This was one of the first markets of that kind in that vicinity, and he sold meat to various towns near there. He was united in marriage with Anna Callesen of Wilton Junction, Iowa, in 1885. She was called by death in 1892.
He was united In marriage with Lena Clint of Cassvllle, Wisconsin in 1894 and they lived in the Luverne vicinity. Lena Clint Ramm was called by death in 1935. The deceased had lived with his daughter, Mrs. Claus Block of Renwick for the past eighteen years.
