Barbara Klassie was born in Switzerland nearly seventy years ago. In 1881 she came to America, settling near Renwick. In 1882 she was united in marriage to Fred Klassie. Three children were born to this union, one daughter and two sons, the daughter and husband preceded her in death. Ten years ago Mrs. Klassie united with the Evangelical church of which she has been a faithful member. After a lingering illness she passed away March 26 at the Joachim Klassie home. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church Monday at 3:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Beckman. Services were spoken in two languages. Music furnished by the regular church choir. The profuse and beautiful floral offering and large attendance at the services showed the esteem in which Mrs. Klassie was held by her many friends. She leaves to mourn her, two sons and four grand children. Burial took place at the Swiss cemetery north and west of town.
