Former Hastings [Nebraska] resident Jeanette I. (Scott) Hofeldt Sieckmann, 83, of Northglenn, Colo., died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, at North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, Colo. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Joel Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Grand Island. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. The family will be present from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Sieckmann was born Aug. 26, 1913, to William and Phebe (Burmaster) Scott in Bloomington, Ill. She was raised on a farm in Iowa. In 1923 she moved with her family to Mackinaw, Ill. They later moved to a dairy farm near Council Bluffs, Iowa. After attending school in Omaha, she worked on the farm. In 1932 she married Howard Hofeldt in Clarion, Iowa. They lived on a farm in Iowa. In 1951 they moved to Grand Island. In 1952 she began working as a cook in Walnut Junior High. From 1962-77 she was a baker at Nebraska Veteran's Home. Her husband died Aug. 24, 1977. On April 9, 1983, she married Jess Sieckmann in Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island. In 1995 they moved to Hastings. In December 1996 they moved to Northglenn. She was a past member of Messiah Lutheran and St. Pauls Lutheran churches.
Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Deanna Miller of Northglenn; one son, Ronald Hofeldt of Hastings; one sister, Mildred Quintus of Eagle Grove, Iowa; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth; three sisters and three brothers.
