Carole Marie Christensen Love, 56, of Stevensville, Maryland, a businesswoman and convention specialist, died June 22, 1996 of cancer at her home, Love Song, after an 18-month illness. A resident of the area for 26 years, Mrs. Love was vice president and chief operating officer of Wedgwood Productions, a convention consulting firm based in Crownsville that she owned with her husband, Neal Love. Born in Perry, Iowa, she had lived in Chicago and London. In Chicago, she worked for the Design Center at the American Furniture Mart where she pioneered closed-circuit television programming. She later worked for the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency. In London, she worked at the well-known Theatre Workshop with producer and director Joan Littlewood. Returning to the United States, she entered the convention business, eventually founding the firm with her husband. She was affiliated with the Committee of Responsibility, an international charity that arranged medical care for children injured in the Vietnam War. She was also the managing partner of Ruxton Associates, a real estate investment and holding company. She attended the University of Maryland and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. She was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church of St. Margarets. Her interests included tennis, the theater, gardening and travel.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Amy Elizabeth Love of Stevensville; her mother and step-father, Juanita and William Roche of Scottsdale, Ariz., four brothers, James Christensen of Lugoff, S.C., John Elphic of Belmond, Iowa, Larry Elphic of Des Moines, Iowa and Randy Elphic of California; and three sisters, Sharon Christensen of Scottsdale, and Pamela Fliss and Lori Ersland, both of Belmond. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at St. Margaret's Church, Pleasant Plains and St. Margaret's roads. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carole Marie Love Scholarship Fund, The Forman School, Litchfield, CT 06759.
