Lucille Angeline (Thul) Nelson was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on January 3, 1924, the daughter of Casper (Casey) M. and Helen M. (Buellesfeld) Thul. She grew up in the area of her birth and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. On June 14, 1947, Lucille was united in marriage with Clifford Raymond Nelson. Together, they had four children, Roberta, Shirley, Ronald & Mary. Cliff and Lucille raised their four children in Eagle Grove, where Cliff worked as a cabinet maker and Lucille was a homemaker. Cliff preceded her in death on April 15, 2005. Lucille was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and several card clubs. She and Cliff retired and bought a winter vacation home in Mission, Texas, where they enjoyed many years away from Iowa winters. Lucille and Cliff loved to take weekend camping trips with their family and friends.

Lucille passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the Iowa Veteran Home in Marshalltown, at the age of 86 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frances and Don Thul and son-in-law, Greg Harris. Lucille is survived by her children, Roberta Angell and husband, Kenny of Huxley, Shirley Deepsong of Albert Lea, MN, Ronald Nelson and wife Jane of Cedar Rapids and Mary Harris and Mike Myers of Marshalltown; sister, Marjorie Larson of Eagle Grove; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames: MGMC Foundation 1111 Duff Ave. Ames, Iowa 50010
