Rites Here For Curtis Muth, 50

Funeral services for Curtis Muth, 50, son of John Muth of Shirley Kramer, who died Tuesday morning at a Denison, Iowa, hospital will be at 10 o’clock Saturday in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Hawarden. Fr. I. Friedman will officiate with burial in St. Mary’s cemetery. Mr. Muth was injured in a one car accident on May 20 when a tire on his car blew out and he was thrown against a barricade a few blocks out of Denison. He suffered a cut on his chin and a broken rib and was hospitalized from that Thursday evening until the following Saturday when he was released. Thereupon he walked to town in Denison and went to the barber shop for a hair cut, later going to the garage to view his car which was not damaged to any great extent. At the garage he began to feel ill and was returned to the hospital. He later underwent surgery for internal injuries and partially recovered before taking a turn for the worse the latter part of last week.

Mr. Muth was employed by the Northwestern Railway Co. the last 29 years starting in Hawarden, later working out of Sioux Rapids, Eagle Grove, Algona, Dunlap where he resided eight years and lately out of Council Bluffs. A son of Mr. and Mr. John Muth, Curtis was born at Hawarden January 20, 1915. He attended school here and married Edith Kepford of Garretson, S.D. in Hawarden, February 26, 1935. They celebrated their silver wedding anniversary five years ago. Mr. Muth was a Veteran of Foreign Wars, having served in Guam during World War II.

Survivors include the widow; Edith at Council Bluffs, his father, John Muth, a resident of Mapes Nursing home here; a brother, Leo Muth of Merrill, Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. Russell (Loretta) Coons of Ireton, Mrs. Orian (Myrtle) Jurgenson of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Edwin (Edythe) Erdahl of Beresford, and several nieces and nephews, including Gene Coons of Hawarden.
