Marian Halliday, 81, of Webster City, died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Belmond Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Revs. Mike Kroona and Tony Ede officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Marian Frances Shutt, daughter of Eli and Rosa Buck Shutt, was born October 8, 1928 at Hayfield, MN. She received her education in the Austin, Minn. school system, graduating from Austin High School. She worked at Austin. On December 3, 1946, she married Robert Eugene Halliday at Austin in the St. Olaf Lutheran parsonage. The couple farmed Bob's grandmother Flugstad's farm south of Highview. Marian was a teaching assistant at a rural school in Washington Township of Webster County. She worked for Hahne Printing in Webster City for several years. From Meredith Publishing in Des Moines, she worked in rural sales in Hamilton County. For several years, she worked in sales for Saladmaster Cookware. Through I.C.C.C., she attended many art courses under Bob Holmes and Ray Attwood. In 1979, they moved to Webster City and Bob continued to farm. She taught art classes at I.C.C.C. for several years. Marian and Bob started making turquoise and silver jewelry in 1964. They also operated a T-shirt printing business.She was a homemaker and retired in 2008 due to failing health.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Rosanne Halliday of Webster City; son, Robert Halliday, Jr. of Duncombe; grandsons, Robert Halliday III (Marla) of St. Ansgar; Jim Halliday (Christie Epps) of Rice, MN; step-grandson, Phil Gusk (Teresa Doolittle) of Ankeny; great-grandsons, Marshel, Ian and Quinton Halliday; step-great-grandchildren, Michael and Mark Gusk; Ryan and Alisa Doolittle; several nieces and nephews.

Marian was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was one of the driving forces in the preservation of the Webster City Depot; in 1979, she received a Community Betterment Award for her work with the Depot Project; she was the founder of the Boone River Area Art Guild; charter member of the Hamilton County Hospital Auxiliary; former member of Purity Rebekah Lodge # 72 of Webster City; a board member of the Hamilton County Historical Society; a member of the Moose Family Center; Webster City Camera Club member; was one of the people who spent many hours cataloging items for the Bonebright Museum; spent many hours assisting at the Blanden Art Gallery in Fort Dodge and was involved in many one person art shows around the state.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Anthony "Tony" Wayne Halliday; brother, Everett Shutt and sister, Shirley Shutt Lourias.
