Fort Dodge Messenger, IowaEAGLE GROVE - Alberta Jessie Toillion, the daughter of Albert and Jessie (Miller) Kilbourn, was born May 13, 1924, in Eddyville, Iowa. She moved to Eagle Grove with her family, where she was raised and educated. On November 18, 1940, Alberta was united in marriage with James A. Toillion, Sr. at Blue Earth, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Jim preceded her in death on May 3, 2008. Alberta worked for the Boone Valley Egg Plant and a number of years as a hygienist for Dr. Einer Johnson. Alberta was known best for her cooking skills some often referring to her as Betty Crocker of Eagle Grove. On several occasions she donated baked goods for her church and various fundraisers. Alberta and Jim continued serving the community with their active involvement with the Eagle Grove Senior Citizens Center.
Alberta passed away on March 19, 2010, at Careage of Clarion, at the age of 85 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy and Mary Lou; granddaughter, Mollie Timmerman and grandson, Scott Timmerman. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Salier of Monroe, sons, Jim Toillion, Jr. and wife Jean of Eagle Grove and John Toillion and wife Diana of Mililani, HI, daughter, Jane Brown and husband JR of Graettinger; sister, Margaret Mackey and husband Milford of Guttenberg; sister-in-law, Irene Costello of Clinton; 10 grandchildren: Tom Wenck and wife Laura, John Wenck and wife Sandy, Eric Johansen and wife Tara, Angela Beschorner and husband Scott, Melanie Petersen and husband Jasen, Heidi Toillion, Mindy Dooley and husband Dan, Ryan Toillion, Kirsten Nakashima and husband Guy and Tiffany Roosa and husband Jason and 15 great-grandchildren: Sarah, Shannon, Jade, Paige, Mattie, Jordyn, Tyson, Jordan, Elizabeth, Morgan, Lucas, Tim, Emmy, Luke and Max,
Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor John Nett officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be directed to the Grace Evangelical Free Church, the Service Center or Senior Citizens Center all of Eagle Grove.
