Reverend Dr. Worthie Keus Usher passed away March 11, 2010. He was born November 10, 1929 in Rowan, Iowa to Worthie Clifford Usher and Minnie Marie (Blank) Usher. Retired from Christian ministry in the United Methodist Church, Rev. Usher served as the minister for churches at Smithland-Ticonic, Luverne-Livermore, Ida Grove, Clear Lake, and Davenport (all in Iowa). A graduate of Rowan High School, Morningside College and Garrett Theological Seminary. Rev. Usher also completed postgraduate studies at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado as well as the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. He has been active in community and denominational activities since entering the ministry in 1953. In Davenport, Rev. Usher served on the Hospice of Scott County Board of Directors, Ridgecrest Retirement Village Board, University Board & the Hispanic United Methodist Ministry Board. In the Iowa Annual Conference, he served on the board of Pensions, Committee on the Episcopacy, Camp Committee and the Multiple Staff Workshop Planning Teams. In 1969 Rev. Usher served on a preaching mission to Panama, then went on to lead a youth work camp to Panama in 1972. He traveled extensively in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, England, Ireland, Scotland, Europe & Scandinavia. Rev. Usher & wife, Helen moved to Grand Prairie, Texas upon his retirement to be close to family. They are members of First United Methodist Church of Duncanville.

A beloved and devoted husband and father, Rev. Usher is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Harding Usher; children, Kenneth Usher, Cynthia Usher Jacobson & husband, Paul and Amy Usher Gregston & husband, Bryan; grandchildren, Erica Jacobson Berger, Paige Jacobson Rabon, Parker Gregston & Tatum Gregston. Memorials may be made to 1st UMC Duncanville Music Department or The Caring Fund at Grace Presbyterian Village. Memorial Service is 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 27, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main Street, Duncanville, Texas 75116.
