Kathryn Ann McMurray, 71, West Des Moines, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston with her son at her side. Services were held Wednesday morning, March 17 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond. Interment was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery near Belmond. Memorials or cards may be directed to her son, Hezekiah McMurray, 5211 E. Patterson St., Long Beach, CA, 90815.

Kathryn Ann was born December 13, 1938 to Otto and Coletta Dorr. After graduating from high school she worked in Des Moines while pursuing her love of theatre. She later worked as a member of the medical community in Des Moines and Fort Worth, TX. She was an avid reader, well spoken, and mildly opinionated. More than just an expert story teller and local historian of more than just her own family, she was a loyal friend and extremely giving to the community. She always brought laughter with her wherever she went, and could always be found with her family and friends in Belmond and Des Moines. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her son Hezekiah; daughter-in-law Jill McMurray; and granddaughter Piper McMurray of Long Beach; her extended family; and countless friends.
