MUSCATINE, Iowa - Ronald E. Thompson, 64, Muscatine, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, in Muscatine. Casketbearers will be David Thompson, Bill Thompson, Shad Sandven, Brian Boyer, Loren Patterson and Chad Patterson. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in his memory.
Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 13, 1945, in Wright County, the son of Harold and Frances (Summers) Thompson. He was a graduate of Goldfield High School. Ronald served with the United States Marines from 1963-69 during Vietnam attaining the rank Lance Corporal. He worked for Monsanto for 32 years. He enjoyed reading, fishing and being with his friends and family.
He will be deeply missed by brothers and sisters, Christine Boyer of Eagle Grove, Clyde Thompson of Calhan, Colo., Kathleen Sandven of Muscatine, Claudia Garcia, Ida LaMere, Susan Smith and husband, Tim, and Sally Gendron and husband, Kelly, all of Paso Robles, Calif.; and half brother, Andrew Thompson of St. Louis, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Thompson; a special friend, Donna Patterson and brother-in-law, Charlie Boyer.
