SOMERS, CT - Jean Harriet (Oler) Swan, 88, of Reeds Landing, Springfield, Massachusetts passed away Wednesday February 17, 2010. Born in Dows, Iowa to the late Joseph and Myrtle (Dielman) Oler, she has been a resident of the Somers CT and Springfield MA area for over 50 years. Jean has been a member of the Faith Congregational Church in Springfield, then the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Enfield CT. She also greatly enjoyed the bible study classes at Evangelical Covenant Church in Springfield. She was also a member of P.E.O. for over 50 years, most recently the Springfield Chapter. In addition, Jean enjoyed being a member of the Reeds Landing community, especially visiting with all the good friends she made there. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years John Edwards Swan, who passed in 2004. However, she is survived by two sons Jeffrey Swan of Albuquerque NM, and John Swan and his wife Deborah of Enfield. She was predeceased by a son James, and her sister Fae Lavia, but leaves a daughter-in-law Sara Swan-Miller; and three grandchildren Christopher, Erin, and Robert. Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 by 11:00 AM at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1518 King St., Enfield for a Memorial Service. Burial will be private. Jean's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield CT. Contributions in Jean's memory may be made to Clarke School for the Deaf, 47 Round Hill Road, Northampton, MA 01060-2199.
