Gladys C. Hutchings, 75, of Route 1, Mason City, Iowa died Tuesday, September 6, 1988 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City of natural causes. No funeral services were held. The body was donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Mrs. Hutchings was born September 24, 1912 in Belmond to Frank and Mabel Jacobmeyer. She attended and graduated from school in Belmond and was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught in schools through northwest Iowa, retiring in Osage. She also served as a nurse’s aid with the Red Cross during World War II. She married Joseph Hutchings on October 1, 1944 in Belmond. He was a retired Methodist minister, and preceded her in death in 1969. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one sister. Survivors include a daughter, Esther Jo Ford of Fairmont, Minnesota; three grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Knoll of Mason City; and a brother, Howard Jacobmeyer of Belmond.
